Your chance to quiz PTP’s LabVIEW Architect David Barr

David BarrExperienced LabVIEW Architect David Barr, a Senior Systems Engineer at Product Technology Partners, is offering a chance to discuss projects and solutions in the arena of control, test and measurement.

David will be on PTP’s stand for the NI Days national conference at Sandown Park Racecourse, Esher, on Tuesday 28th November.

Here, David talks to us about his LabVIEW and NI Days experiences and why he is offering up his expertise at the renowned annual event.

Have you been to NI Days before and what do you think of the event?

I have been several times, both representing PTP and also before I joined the company. It is a great event for networking with some really interesting keynote speakers and topics – with attendees able to choose what themes are most relevant to them. I would advise anyone interested in National Instruments and LabVIEW to attend.

How can you help people attending NI Days with their LabVIEW projects?

PTP always tries to do something a bit different with their NI Days stand. This year, we thought it would be great to host a ‘Meet the LabVIEW Architect’ event, where attendees can talk to me about their various projects. If they are having a problem, we can run through possible solutions. It will be a great opportunity to share insights and ideas.

What happens if you can’t solve their problem during the event?

I will be happy to try and answer any questions on the day as well as provide a few pointers. But if the solution requires a little more depth, I will offer more detailed advice at a later date.

How does NI Days help you in your LabVIEW work?

I manage the Cambridge LabVIEW User Group, which provides a great opportunity for engineers across the Eastern Region to grow their LabVIEW expertise and interact with other like-minded people. I am always looking for new guest speakers at the User Group and NI Days is a great place to network.

How did you become a LabVIEW Architect?

I have been using LabVIEW for the last 10 years, progressing through the ranks of Associated Developer, Certified Developer and now Architect. My background was initially in test and measurement but I also have a lot of experience with embedded control. There are around 100-120 Architects in the country.
