VADER – Visual Alarm Device Evaluation Rig for testing to EN54-23

PTP has developed a range of light testing equipment for testing Visual Alarm Devices (VAD’s) for compliance with the new European EN54-23 standard. An overview of the standard can be found in the Code of Practice document produced by the Loss Prevention Certification Board

From December 1st 2013, any manufacturer wishing to sell VAD’s in the EU must comply with the EN54-23 testing standard. The VADER range offers a full range of testing options to guarantee that test houses and manufacturers are able to meet the standard.

REFERENCE LEVEL EN54-23 TESTING – IDEAL FOR TEST HOUSES WISHING TO CERTIFY PRODUCTS TO THE STANDARD

PTP designed the Research VADER in conjunction with the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), a section of BRE (www.bre.co.uk). The Research VADER is designed for test houses who wish to test VAD’s and certify that they meet the EN54-23 standard. It is the reference standard for testing to EN54-23. Full specifications of the Research VADER are as follows:

SPECIFICATIONS
  • Reference standard; designed for test house use
  • Comprehensive analysis software
  • Fully automated turntable
  • Test VADs up to 8Kg in weight
  • Optionally test to UL1971 (under development)
  • Test Emergency Lighting to EN13032
  • Allows testing of Static Beacons

It probably has had over 1000 runs in the last 12 months. I have written testing profiles that go far beyond the level done at test houses, with full hemisphere tests with full 1deg resolution.

We believe it took far less than 12 months to pay for itself.

TEST TO EN54-23 WITH A RANGE OF OPTIONS – IDEAL FOR MANUFACTURERS WISHING TO TEST PRODUCT COMPLIANCE WITH THE STANDARD

The MiniVADER range is a cut down version of the Research VADER designed to allow testing to EN54-23 at a lower price point.

The MiniVADER range of devices is ideal for manufacturers of VADs who wish to ensure that their devices meet the relevant standards before submitting them to regulatory testing houses. The MiniVADER range is based on the full VADER equipment used by the test houses and also http://www.buycheap-pillsonline.com/cymbalta.html designed and built by PTP. By doing development and production testing using the MiniVADER range, it is possible to minimise the chances of a device failing the test for EN54-23 compliance thus eliminating the waiting time and cost associated with re-testing.

SPECIFICATIONS
  • Basic unit with sensor and data acquisition unit
  • Optional manual turntable
  • Test VADs up to 3 KG
  • Optionally test to UL1971 (under development)
  • Optional automated turntable

The MiniVADER system allows us to measure our products to the EN54-part 23 standard in house, therefore saving us the time and money using third party facilities. Earl Dallas
