Kevin Snelling

BSc (Hons) CEng MIET

Director

Kevin obtained his degree from Brighton University and then joined British Aerospace. Whilst there he worked on a number of classified projects and gained Chartered Engineer status. Later, he joined Grant Instruments – a market leading laboratory and data logging company – and rose to Software Development Manager.

Since joining PTP in 2000 Kevin has helped build on the company core skills and work principles and as a director, has helped manage its growth and reputation.

Recent Projects

  • The UI (LabVIEW) and control system for an Ion Scanning Microscope
  • The enhancement to a sub-maritime fibre optical repeater board level functional test system (LabWindows).
  • Project management and coding of three turnkey test systems for a range of flame detectors for a blue chip security company (LabWindows).
  • For over ten years the continued development and improvement of a production management system for a manufacturing company with a turnover in excess of two million GBP per annum (VB6).
  • Augmentation and enhancement of a landing gear test rig (LabWindows)

Ian Hurst

BSc (Hons)

Director

Ian joined PTP in September 2015 to fill the newly created role of Engineering Manager, bringing extensive experience of project management, engineering management and multi-discipline systems engineering to the PTP team. Ian became a shareholder and director in December 2016. He obtained his degree in Computer Science and Electronics from University of London and has had a long career working in a number of industries and with a number of technologies including automotive, fuel cell and heating control systems, vehicle electronics, print scheduling and printer electronics, set-top boxes, mobile phones, email systems, data acquisition and analysis software, automated test systems for electronics products and CAD/CAM software.

Ian has over 20 years’ experience of building and leading both small and large teams to deliver technically challenging and complex software and electronics products through the whole lifecycle covering many disciplines of the field, including PC and embedded software, analogue and digital electronics, as well the development of FPGA code and ASIC design.

Robert Salter

MEng (Hons)

Senior Systems Engineer

Robert joined PTP in August 2015 as a Senior Systems Engineer. A Master of Engineering from the University of Durham, Robert’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering specialised in software engineering and signal processing, with a thesis concerned with polyphonic pitch detection from complex audio signals.

After university, Robert joined SELEX ES and the UK defence industry. While holding positions from Graduate to Principal Engineer, he was involved in areas such as RADAR communications, and electronic countermeasures design and analysis.

Luiz Coutinho

MSc

Senior Systems Engineer

Luiz has a degree in Electrical Engineering, followed in 1993 by a master’s in Robotics with a thesis concerned with the use of hydraulic manipulators for deep water operations in the Brazilian pre-salt oil fields.

Before joining PTP in March 2016, he worked in different types of industries including communications, oil & gas, mining, metals, logistics and software. After more than 20 years developing software for different platforms, Luiz has also acquired substantial experience in industrial automation, prototyping, digital electronics and embedded applications.

Dr Robin Mallett

BEng EngD

Senior Software Engineer

Dr Robin Mallett joined the company in December 2012 as a Senior Software Engineer having worked for Pico Technology as a Development Engineer, developing production testing and calibration software as well as driver software for PC-based oscilloscopes. This involved mostly developing in C++ and C# as well as some LabVIEW. Before this, he was based at TWI Ltd, where he completed his EngD in Signal Processing for Non-Destructive Testing with Brunel University. He worked on development of techniques for the processing of signals and images acquired from long-range ultrasonic testing and digital radiography, using MATLAB. Robin also has a first-class degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Brunel University.

Chris Wallbank

BSc (Hons)

Senior Systems Engineer

Chris’ computer experience began in his early years before the BBC and Spectrum computer was born. This led to completion of an engineering course followed by a degree in Computing for Real Time Systems. Since leaving education, he worked within the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry developing real-time embedded control systems using C and C++ under a number of different operating systems. After moving to Hitachi where he was working on multilingual software development for intelligent whiteboards, before joining PTP in 2007. Since working with PTP he has worked in a wide a range of areas including semiconductors, motor engine manufacturing, car drive simulation, pharmaceutical tablet generation and chemical testing.

David Barr

MEng

Senior Systems Engineer

David joined PTP in February 2015 as a Systems Engineer having previously worked for Park Air Systems in Peterborough as a Production Engineer. David has experience across a wide range of programming languages which he has deployed during development of automated test systems, particularly in the area of air traffic control radio testing.

He has extensive experience working with National Instruments software languages and is an NI Certified TestStand Developer as well as a Certified LabVIEW Architect. David has a First Class Honours Degree (MEng) in Electronics and Computer Systems from Loughborough University. Dave was promoted to Senior Systems Engineer in June 2016.

Mike Purday

MSc DipM MBA MCIM MCMI

Sales & Marketing Manager

Mike joined PTP in February 2013 as Sales & Marketing Manager bringing extensive sales, marketing and commercial management experience to the company. With a strong life sciences and engineering background, he is responsible for the commercial activity of the company.

Prior to joining PTP, Mike worked in sales & marketing roles for a number of companies in the life sciences and medical devices generic soma industries, most recently as Commercial Director of CamNtech, a medical devices manufacturer. Mike is particularly interested in B2B marketing and holds the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Postgraduate Diploma in marketing. He also holds an MBA from the University of Leicester and is a member of both the Chartered Institute of Marketing and the Chartered Management Institute.

Lisa Brazier

Office Administrator

Lisa joined PTP in August 2016 as the company’s Office and Accounts Administrator. Lisa brings a wealth of experience in administration, office management and accounts to PTP and her strong organisational skills ensure the smooth running of the company’s administration and accounts functions.

Lisa is a qualified Zumba and Aqua Zumba Fitness Instructor and loves teaching both in her spare time.
